Jim Steinmeyer es un diseñador de ilusiones mágicas y efectos teatrales.
Ha sido asesor y creador de ilusiones para Siegfried & Roy , David Copperfield, Lance Burton, Orson Welles , Harry Blackstone , Los Pendragons , Simon Drake , Ricky Jay , Jason Bishop entre otros.
En 1983 creó para David Copperfield el efecto de hacer desaparecer la Estatura de la Libertad.
Entre otros trucos ha creado:
- Origami.- Un ayudante se introduce en un cubo que se pliega hasta un tamaño diminuto y es atravesado por espadas, a continuación se vuelve a desplegar el cubo, y el ayudante sale ileso.
- Interludio.- Realizado por Los Pendragons, el ayudante atraviesa con su cuerpo el pecho del mago. pasando desde atrás hacia adelante.
- OP-Art.- Desaparece el cuerpo del ayudante dejándose ver solo la cabeza de este.
- "La Bella y la Bestia".- Creó el efecto de la levitación de la Bestia cuando se transforma.
- El Elefante y su sombra.- Una moderna desaparición de un elefante.
